At least one person was killed and others were injured in a school shooting on Tuesday at Marshall County High School in Benton, Ky., according to Gov. Matt Bevin.
A suspect was in custody and the scene was secured, the state police said in a tweet on Tuesday morning. No further information was immediately available.
“Let’s let the first responders do their job and be grateful that they are there to do it for us,” Mr. Bevin wrote on Twitter.
Benton is about 200 miles southwest of Louisville, near the western tip of Kentucky.
